   This qualification will prepare you with a solid foundation in finance

   administration, covering areas such as bookkeeping and basic costing

AAT Level 2


  • The first level of the qualification is for suited for people with limited or no accounts knowledge
  • Unqualified accounting staff who want to enhance their foundation knowledge and skills
  • Employers looking to train and up-skill their staff

By the end of the AAT Level 2 course in accounting, you will be able to confidently process daily business transactions in a manual and computerised bookkeeping system.

This course provides comprehensive coverage of the traditional double-entry bookkeeping system which underpins accounting processes world-wide.


Once you’ve passed Level 2, you can work in roles such as an accounts payable clerk, accounts officer, payroll administrator, and a finance assistant, with salaries of up to £23,000.


If you want to progress further, you can study AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma.

  How will you be assessed?


  The course is assessed by a combination of

  unit assessments and one synoptic.


  Unit assessment

  A unit assessment only tests knowledge and

  skills taught in that unit. 

  • Available on demand, mostly all year round.
  • Mostly marked by the computer normally providing assessment results within 24 hours of your assessment date.


  Synoptic assessment

  The synoptic assessment is an end of course 

  assessment which tests a variety of knowledge

  and skills from several units.

  • Attempted once the unit assessments have been attempted
  • Available on demand, mostly all year round


Getting your results


  Assessment results are available in your

  MYAAT account within 24 hours for computer

  marked assessments. For those assessments

  marked by AAT assessors, you can expect to

  receive your results at a later date (timescales

  may vary and will be published on the AAT

  website).


Grading


  To be awarded the AAT Level 2 Foundation

  Certificate in Accounting qualification you must

  achieve a minimum 70% competency level in

  each assessment.


Resits

  You can resit an assessment to improve your

  grade. Results from the assessment with the

  highest marks will be used to calculate your

  final grade.
